OUT OF CHARACTER

The proposed employment allocation at Wyke, and subsequent loss of agricultural land, will result in a significant loss of biodiversity in the area and will have a detrimental impact on the landscape quality of this part of Gillingham.

The land off the B3081 is located within an open agricultural area with a rural character, comprising a scattering of agricultural buildings and residential properties. It is considered that a proposed business park development, due to its likely scale, design and siting and the associated hardstanding, lighting and signage would be clearly visible, and would appear out of character with, and detrimental to, the rural character of the surrounding area.
