Save our Wyke

A PETITION against land in Gillingham being set aside for business development was presented to North Dorset District Council yesterday.

Members of the group Save Our Wyke collected 2,058 signatures opposing North Dorset District Council's proposals to include the 10-hectare plot of land at Dry Lane, Wyke, in its New Plan for North Dorset – a document mapping out potential sites for development during the next 16 years.

The deadline for public consultation on the plans came to an end today (Friday).

Save Our Wyke campaigner David Walsh said the scale of the petition was due to the work of supporters in Wyke who had taken it door-to-door in the area.
